有一天晚上,有一個人做了一個夢
他夢見自己與上帝正沿著沙灘漫步
天空閃現著他人生的許多不同階段
他注意到每一個階段
都有兩雙腳印留在沙灘上
一雙是他自己的
一雙是上帝的
最後階段呈現
他回頭凝視留在沙灘上的足跡
發現在那一排的足跡中
有幾次只有一雙足跡
而那幾次的足跡都是在他人生最低潮,最悲傷的時刻
他感到相當困惑
於是就問上帝：
主阿！
祢說過一但我跟隨祢
祢將永遠與我同在
可是我注意到在我人生遭受挫折的時期
那裡只有一雙腳印
為什麼呢？
當我最需要祢的時候
祢卻離我而去？
上帝回答說：
我最珍愛的孩子
我愛你
我永遠不會離你而去
在你遭到苦難的那些時期
你所看到留在沙灘上的一雙足跡
那是我抱起你走過去的

One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking
Along the beach with the Lord.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene,he noticed two sets
of footprints in the sand;one belonging to him,and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of his life
flashed before him,he looked back at
the footprints in the sand.He noticed
that many times along the path of his life
there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the
very lowest and saddest times of his life.
This really bothered him and he
questioned the Lord about it.
"Lord,You said that once I decided to follow
you,you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life,there is only
one set of footprints.I don't understand
why,when I needed you most,
you would leave me."
The Lord replied,"My precious,precious
child,I love you and I would never leave
you.During the times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."

足跡は二人分
でもいつの間にか一人分だけ消えてなくなっていた
主よ
あなたはどこへ行ってしまったのですか?
私はここにいる
あなたを負ぶって歩いて来たのだ
あなたは何も恐れなくてよい
私が共にいるから
